Day 22 – Oct 14, 2024

As a result of my disappointment with my major (and expensive!) mentor/training course purchase, I went searching for a different source and I found something I”m much more comfortable with.  As I write this, I am now 11 days into the Proven Amazon Course (ProvenAmazonCourse.com) by Jim Cockrum and feel much better about this.  It is more comprehensive than just Amazon FBA using private label but promotes simpler strategies of Retail and Online Arbitrage to start, yet still offers a clear path to full Private Label selling on Amazon FBA once you learn the ropes.   Jim and his coaches promote a “walk before you run” approach, and given my time line (not urgent) and my concern about making an expensive product mistake of $10,000 or more, I like this approach.   Not saying I won’t eventually return to the original course I purchased (the expensive one!) to leverage that information too, but right now I’m more comfortable with, and impressed by, the modules in Jim’s course and also the depth of his coaching experience and track record.   He also hosts a podcast with a bunch of “deep dive” student success stories that I find motivating.

I should mention that Jim does offer full year coaching for $6,800, so roughly $550/month.  That could be money well spent, but it’s a big commitment to make (full $6,800 payment up front) without any recourse or option to cancel if for some reason I’m not happy after 30 days (like the first course I bought!).  Given that first course decision, I passed on coaching and am following the “Proven Amazon Course” (PAC) modules on my own for now and that’s going well.   I may still consider coaching in the future if things go well and if it feels necessary, but I think there’s a good chance I can figure this out on my own with the PAC course modules and the PAC support Facebook groups, so going to wait for 90 days before considering coaching again.

I know some may say the coaching is a rip off but I don’t necessarily believe that, but I also know I’ve worked through things more complicated than this in the past.  And saving $6,800 is always easier than making it in profit.  “Penny saved is a penny earned.”    👍
